The EPA reported that as of 2018, the transportation sector alone makes up 28% of the total greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) for the United States and contributes to 14% of global emissions. The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy conducted a recent study showing that increases in bicycling could help cut GHG emissions from urban transportation up to 11% by 2030. We are already seeing how these changes can have big impacts for sustainability. However, commuting by bicycle is not the only way to help reduce emissions.
