Greenwashing is when a company uses labeling and packaging to portray an environmentally sustainable public image, when in reality they are hurting the environment. When you go to the store and shop, the packaging and advertising of products can be very misleading. It is important to look for labels that verify the product is actually sustainable, and better for you, the consumer as well.

Resources such as ewg.org can be incredibly helpful when trying to determine if a product is eco-friendly. You can search products anywhere from food, to cleaning supplies, to makeup, and see how good or bad that product might be for the environment. By avoiding green washed products, you can live a more sustainable lifestyle. The next time you go to the store, take a moment to make sure the products you are choosing are good for the Earth and you as well!
